- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪First off, they only provide most services to a very young group. Early intervention is great, but it leaves those with older children in the dark in a community that has very little to offer to kids with autism (unless provided by the school system). They did offer speech therapy to my 10 year old son, but they discharged us after missing 3 visits. My son had a difficult summer transitioning and they told us to bring him in regardless of him having a bad day... a lovely thought, but lol... good luck to me getting my very large child in the car during a meltdown. PS my kid was in his underwear and refused to get dressed. We missed the 3rd appt and got discharged from services. They told us we could get him speech therapy in 6 months. No thank you... we'll drive to Ann Arbor. Perhaps they'll be more understanding of the actual diagnosis of autism! Blows my mind.July 31, 2017by Paula Caldwell
